Wise words indeed from James’ Tim Booth, who clearly knows that nothing beats a good sit down with a nice cup of tea (or something a little stronger).

Kick back, feet up aaaaaaaaaand relax.

To help you in your quest to find the perfect sit, here are 5 armchairs that will help you get your rest on.

Hai chair – Hem

The Hai chair was inspired by the sleek lines of a whale shark. Although whale sharks aren’t renowned for their comfort, or indeed their style, Luca Nichetto clearly saw something we didn’t here, and has created a piece which nails both. His design has a very cool, mid-century feel with a nod to the Nordic and a wink to the Italians – Mycket bellissimo!

Lamino – Swedese

Designed in 1956, this is a fantastic example of genuinely timeless design. Clean lines, natural materials and ergonomic contouring make this one of my favorite chairs (no, that isn’t weird) of all time.

Poang – Ikea

The POÄNG chair is one of Ikea’s longest running and best selling pieces. And for good reason. Introduced in 1977(!), it has rightly become an iconic design. While it may look very Skandi, it’s actually by Japanese designer Noboru Nakamura. He was given the brief to create “an armchair for life”. I’d say he hit the brief. It’s good looks and the ridiculously reasonable price point – from just £95! – will, I’m sure guarantee its place in many homes to come.

Grand Repos – Vitra

A contemporary take on the classic wing chairs found in your perfect home library, Grand Repos has it all. Clean lines, a mechanism which moves with the sitter to allow perfect comfort and the sort of pedigree a Crufts winner would kill for. Designed by Antonio Citterio in 2011 and manufactured by Vitra, you know that this will cater for some serious sitting.

Gravity Balans – Varier

Not your average chair this one, not by a long shot. Its looks aren’t for everyone, but once you sit in it and let the chair roll back – oh my goodness. You honestly feel like you are floating. Perfect for a proper “doing completely nothing” marathon.
